Alan Wells

Alan Wells OBE founded the Basic Skills Agency and was its Director for thirty years, working closely with government, both national and local, schools, colleges and voluntary and community organisations. He has been a constant advocate for literacy and numeracy education, and was the specialist adviser to Lord Moser's committee that led to national strategies to reduce the number of adults with poor literacy and numeracy. Alan is one the trustees of the Simplification Centre charity.
