NZ's new plain language law

New Zealand's plain language law has passed its second reading in Parliament, reports The Guardian. It's good timing because NZ's Plain Language Awards have announced their shortlist, and will announce the winners soon.

The Guardian article introduced me to the wonderfully framed 'past exonerative tense' loved by politicians and spin doctors. 'Mistakes were made', for example. Have a look at Vijith Assar's interactive guide to ambiguous grammar.
